While each card helps you connect with yourself, they also offer opportunities to learn concepts that have been shown to improve quality of life, so you can reflect on how these concepts might relate to you and your experience.

This means that each card offers a "lesson" about key concepts that help individuals (ex: boundaries, emotional regulation, sense of self, etc.), a few reflective prompts to uncover how these concepts, skills, or scenarios influence your life, and a simple way to check in with yourself so you can strengthen your authenticity, meet your needs, and build the life that you want.

What the card means, and how it connects to your life, is something only you can discover. There are no “right” answers and no fixed interpretations.

Instead of giving you conclusions, the cards gently invite you to slow down and notice what’s coming up for you with therapy-inspired questions and prompts. From there, you’re free to respond in a way that feels the best to you.

The structure of each card is there to support you, and offer prompts to guide not direct you. It offers a starting point, while leaving space for your own thoughts, emotions, and insights to lead.

In that sense, Hero’s Ascent is less about being told what something means, and more about helping you build a deeper, more trusting relationship with yourself.

Yes. Every lesson, activity, and affirmation in Hero’s Ascent was personally written by a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (LAMFT). The deck is a distillation of years of professional training, client work, and hands-on use of therapy-informed approaches such as Parts Work and Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory, Narrative Therapy, and other emotional regulation techniques.

Each card was thoughtfully written to help you uncover meaningful insights, explore your thoughts and emotions in an approachable way, and take practical steps toward personal growth.

We believe in being transparent, since honesty and intention are central to these cards. We also know many people feel cautious about AI art, especially in spiritual tools like oracle cards or decks such as Hero’s Ascent. That’s why we want to be clear about how the images in this deck were created.

The short answer is yes, we used AI tools as part of our creative process. But not in the “one-click image” way you may have seen online, where AI alone does all the work with little to no human input.

Each card in Hero's Ascent began with a clear vision. We started with sketches, drawings, or mockups we created, then generated multiple drafts in MidJourney. From there, we spent hours manually editing and refining each image in Photoshop until it matched the card’s theme and supported the lesson it was paired with.

In total, more than 400 hours went into crafting the images on the cards alone, with each image taking between 2 and 10+ hours to create, refine, and finalize.

Beyond the imagery, the entire card design, layout, and other details were built by hand in Photoshop and Illustrator. Megan, a Licensed Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, wrote every lesson, activity, and affirmation using her training and experience as a practicing mental health professional.

In the end, while AI was one tool we used, Hero’s Ascent works because of the therapy-inspired lessons, activities, and affirmations woven into every card.

The artwork brings a sense of fun and adventure to the experience, but the heart of the deck is about helping you grow, heal, and reconnect with yourself in a way that feels approachable, impactful, and even enjoyable.

Hero's Ascent incorporate techniques inspired by Internal Family Systems (IFS), Polyvagal Theory, Parts Work, Attachment Theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and Narrative Therapy and utilize various mindfulness, emotional regulation, and self-compassion exercises to provide structured personal growth exercises.

While the deck is inspired by therapeutic principles, it is a self-care and self-discovery tool designed for personal growth and entertainment purposes.

Our decks are designed to be used by everyone aged 13+. However, some cards and/or concepts may require guidance for younger users.

All our cards are sized 2.75" x 4.75" (standard tarot size) and printed on high-quality 330 GSM card stock with a smooth finish, giving the deck a durable, premium feel while keeping the cards flexible, easy to shuffle, and comfortable to use.
